Nice Simple Entry & Courtyard Space at Laguna Beach by Dale Waldo Landscape ArchitecturePhotos by Dale Waldo Landscape ArchitectureEntry and Courtyard Transformations Our second entry comes from Dale Waldo Landscape Architecture and is a beautiful make-over set in the stunning coastal enclave of Laguna Beach. The goal of this was to present an outdoor space that is inviting, functional, and encompasses a simple elegance while aligning with the relaxed coastal lifestyle of Southern California. In this design images, you can see a balance between lush and hardscape plants, which consists of drought-resistant flora that grows more easily in local climates. The native California plant species mainly lavender, succulents, and ornamental grasses were chosen for their sustainability, low-maintenance requirements, and flowers offering a range of colors throughout the year. The welcoming pathway of flagstone pavers and permeable interlocking concrete serve a dual function: beautifying the entrance and promoting better water flow and reducing the immediate risk of erosion that can affect this area. The biggest factor during the was the slopes and keeping the excess rainwater from flooding during rains. To resolve these issues and create visual interest and depth in the courtyard, our team tactfully designed a set of terraced planters. Natural stone was used to create these planters and provides a natural look to match the site. The outcome is a calming arrival and courtyard space that encourages repose and revelry. A little nook hidden in the greenery, ideal for morning coffees or evening gatherings complemented by soft ambient light glowing warmly after sunset. The client loved the result as the transformation added curb appeal to the property and the space became a little piece of home that they delighted in using.
