Soft Contemporary in Laguna Beach Dale Waldo Landscape Architecture: Soft Contemporary in Laguna Beach Located in one of the most beautiful parts of California, this is yet another result of our quality and innovative design for a diverse clientele within Southern California, from Aliso Viejo to Newport Beach. A careful selection of drought-resistant plants provides a lush counterpoint to the rugged coastal landscape in the architectural landscaping. By using native plants like California lilacs and ornamental grasses, it was not only sustainable but would look great throughout the year. Serpentine walks made from natural stone sourced close to site lead through the garden, providing flow. Additional challenges included creating an outdoor space that was exerted visually, yet still offered privacy from neighboring properties. An additional challenge was that the landscape had several slopes, and instead of straight, rigid walls, we designed a few series of soft, curved retaining walls using natural boulders that not only can be used as functional elements but also serve to bring an organic feel to it. By adding layers of color and texture with vertical gardens and flowering vines in trellises, our landscape designers develop a sense of intimacy with well-placed volumes. Reclaimed wood was used for the deck and the outdoor furniture was also built by the same craftsmen to ensure the aesthetic of the entire , which was finished with quality materials throughout. The end product is a peaceful sanctuary that is perfect Laguna Beach living an outdoor entertainment space that opens up to the indoor space. Our client was absolutely delighted with the transformation, and commented that the new landscape not only adds value their property aesthetically, but has given their family a comfortable place to gather and unwind.
