About This Project

WHAT: Costa Mesa Color/Water Conservation This 'Costa Mesa Color/Water Conservation' was designed and built by Camille Beehler Landscape Design to create a sustainable, beautiful, low-water use landscape from a typical residential landscape. This , situated in the center of Costa Mesa, was intended to beautify the area and help conserve water an essential objective to be taking in our current climate. We started with an extensive site analysis that showed great opportunities for vibrant planting selections that would be drought tolerant. So we designed for a palette of native and adaptive plants California poppies, lavender, and succulents, chosen because they are colorful, and take little water. The flowers become even more visible thanks to a pathway of reclaimed, permeable pavers, which allows rainwater to infiltrate and reduces runoff. We had to decommission an old, totally needed irrigation system. We then focused on our actual workload the irrigation layout, quickly redesigned by our team to include a smart drip system that saves water by delivering just the required amount of moisture directly to the plants. Not only does this unique method boosts the health of plants it also minimizes the use of water drastically. The end result is a stunning four-season landscape accented with bright contrasting colors, bold textures and visual intrigue that command attention. We finished the with a decorative rain garden to help control stormwater runoff and provide habitat for wildlife, in keeping with sustainability goals. The result is a colorful low-maintenance landscape for a happy client that showcases their personality while still taking care of the environment.
