This vast residential property was reshaped into a beautiful outdoor space that balances form and function. At the core of the were the thoughtfully designed terraced gardens that gradually step in elevation, creating depth and changing visual angles. Retaining walls were built with locally sourced stone for durability, while still looking like a natural material that seamlessly fits into the property and surrounding scenery. The stone enhanced the property's charm and will endure the effects of weather for many years. Designing the landscape was not without significant challenges due to the slope of the property; however, our team carefully considered the slope when grading the site to address drainage and erosion issues, while integrating walk ways through the thick plantings. The unique design incorporated a broad palette of drought-tolerant plants that display a vibrant mix of colors and textures suited to the coastal climate, assuring beautiful plantings year round. The focal point of the is a custom-designed fire pit with adjacent seating that draws people toward the warmth of the fire from seating. The fire pit area is designed for entertaining, or enjoying quiet evenings under the stars, making the connection to nature felt in the outdoor living area. The client expressed a high level of satisfaction with their new landscape, praising the visual appeal of the , and the consideration of practical use within the design. The 'Four Peaks' illustrates Kathy Henry Exterior Design's dedication to quality, creativity, and client satisfaction and is another shining example of what is possible in outdoor living spaces in the coastal communities of Southern California.
