The Narrows Estate | Designer: Holloway Company Inc | Location: Vancouver, Canada Set in the beautiful countryside of Aldie, Virginia, The Narrows Estate is a premier , created by Holloway Co. Inc. And this entire landscaping took a large property and turned it into a stunning retreat that balances beauty with practicality. This design includes a thoughtful integration of native plants and tasteful hardscape elements like custom stone path and a beautiful locally sourced flagstone patio. Responsible selection of drought-tolerant foliage not only improves the beauty but also contributes to sustainability of the area. Central to the estate is a beautiful water feature consisting of a waterfall and koi pond providing a serene aura and attracting wildlife. The natural slopes of the land also became one of the major aspects of difficulty during this ; we needed to get creative with the grading in order to achieve the right drainage but maintain the natural form of the land. Incorporating boulders as natural retaining walls connected the various levels of the landscape while adding texture and visual interest to the garden and tiered beds display seasonal color throughout the year. The end product is a seamless mix of beauty and function, with intentionally designed zones for entertaining and for solitude. The clients are able to use their outdoor space now all year round, and the craftsmanship and attention to detail have increased the value of the property amongst many other factors.
