Hemlock House Completed by: Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design LLC Location: Stoneham At Hemlock House, we at Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design LLC undertook a landscaping designed to blend nature and modern sophistication. Located in the heart of Stoneham, this was driven by the client's wish for a peaceful outdoor sanctuary, to fit with the existing architecture of their house. We designed a detailed Bluestone patio. As an outdoor living space, this established foundation for outdoor entertaining is significantly stylish and durable. In the surrounds of the patio, we provided a variety of native plants and perennials, resilient and seasonal in their beauty, that enhance the aesthetics of the home and encourage biodiversity in the landscape. One of the most substantial s associated with this particular site was the existing topography of the property. With the existing lay of the land, our team seriously graded the land to establish raised garden beds and provide proper drainage, allowing flow throughout the site. We successfully constructed a lovely rustic natural stone retaining wall in continuity with the bluestone patio that offers stability while adding dimension. We installed ambient lighting throughout the landscape, creating a nice soft glow at night during entertaining. Lighting for routes, display for the water feature adding tranquility to the sound, and decorative uplighting are all options we offered with the overall design to create space, anchor and provide circulation. Finalized Hemlock House and the outdoor space took our client's breath away. They now have a multi-purpose outdoor space, allowing them to entertain as well as let peaceful moments envelop them. The strong design impressions, thoughtful yet simple plants, natural materials, and attention to detail are reflective of the firm at Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design LLC and it was our team's pleasure to contribute to this beautiful in Stoneham.
