About This Project

Hastings Lane Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design LLC is excited to present our Hastings Lane , a beautiful landscaping located in the heart of Stoneham. This landscaping was designed to create an intimate outdoor space that separates, yet pairs beautifully with the surrounding landscape. The first step we took was to conduct a thorough analysis of the site. This step gave our team a good overview of the challenges, which included a highly sloped yard and poor drainage for the entire site. We worked to provide a detailed and strategic design including inventing special grading, where applicable, as well as French drains - all ultimately designed for fun and beautiful back yard landscaping. Once this was approved, we specify local materials where possible. We also included various native plants that are appropriate for our climate, including ornamental grasses, perennials, and shrubs to provide interest year round. The stone patio is the highlight of this offering an expansive area for entertaining, else just relaxing out side, with hand-laid stone bluestone providing a durable surface for plantings! We included a winding path to enhance the visual effect, using reclaimed brick as a path to guide our guests to explore the garden. Ambient lighting was also included which helps illuminate the gorgeous in the landscape, as well as so guests can enjoy beautifully landscaped social events longer extending into the night. The overall “Hastings Lane” exceeded the expectations of the clients and started to provide an inviting outdoor oasis with all of their personal flavor. Natural elements merged with our ideas created a curb appeal increase as well as a more functional, beautiful outdoor space.
