About This Project

Secret Garden by Harmony Design Group Located in Westfield, the 'Secret Garden' completed by Harmony Design Group transformed a typical backyard into a magical space combining restful and enthusiastic natural beauty. Serving the surrounding community of Berkeley Heights, Cranford, and Montclair, our team embarked on this to create a private haven that married lush landscaping with functional outdoor living space. The design included carefully selected components including native plants providing year-round interest, a meandering bluestone paved sporadic pathway of local sourced materials, and wooden trellises designed on site to accommodate the climbing vines. The focal point of the garden is a contemplative koi pond complete with a small waterfall. The waterfall adds a soothing sound layer as well as attracting local wildlife. Along the way we faced some challenges with the existing slope of the yard and drainage on the slope to support the sustainment of the garden's longevity. Our skilled team suggested a series of tiered landscape beds and retaining walls using fieldstone to add a natural look and have proper drainage. In the end we have a stunning sanctuary that exceeds our client's expectations and on every visit we are delighted by seeing new blooms and subtle nuances of the season. The client happily stated, " I am so excited by the transformation and it has become my favorite place to gather family or find some quiet time."
