Educational Butterfly Garden The Educational Butterfly Garden, created by Colorado Vista Landscape Design, Inc., is a brilliant illustration of the beauty of nature and the importance of environmental education. Situated in the beautiful surroundings of Fort Collins, Colorado, the is meant to serve as a living classroom for local schools and the community, increasing awareness and appreciation of butterflies and other pollinators. The garden was designed by our crew and features a variety of native plants chosen for their ability to attract butterflies of all shapes and colors. Our planting scheme includes milkweed, coneflowers, and asters, which provide habitat and food for caterpillars and adult butterflies. Organic soil amendments were used in a high percentage of our native plants for optimum growth and sustainability as part of our commitment to environmentally responsible practices. The included features for educational engagement as well, in the form of interactive educational signage that informs visitors of the lifecycle of butterflies and their role in ecosystems. Signs were made from recycled materials as well to prolong the life cycle of our . There were many challenges to the , particularly in creating plant who would thrive during Colorado's varying climate conditions. We faced difficulties, but through careful planning, we were able to install drought-resistant plants that are viable for our region, use ng little to no maintenance, and remain aesthetically pleasing for many years to come. The end is a stunning and functional site that engages visitors through colorful flowers and active butterflies. The local schools have begun to schedule field trips, excited to engage their students in a hands-on learning opportunity in this beautiful setting.
