Grant Street Residence KDTurner Design is delighted to share this noteworthy landscaping called the 'Grant Street Residence,' which represents some of our best work and values of quality, craft and beauty. Located in the quaint town of Ipswich, the included a complete redesign of the outdoor space, exploring ways to enhance the functionality and natural beauty of the site ultimately resulting in a space that serves as a retreat for the homeowner. The began with a thorough site assessment of the landscape in order to build an understanding of the specific characteristics of the site. From the outset our team faced many site challenges, such as uneven terrain and areas that received lower sun. To navigate these challenges we explored unique grading options and selected plants that thrive in lower light conditions. For us it was important that the elements of the design provided an appealing garden for the homeowner to enjoy all times of the year. The design includes a beautiful composition of native plants such as colorful perennials and ornamental grasses. This composition was meticulously selected to promote biodiversity and to reduce time the homeowner needed to care for the garden. A beautiful stone paver pathway made with local bluestone, meanders through the garden, inviting visitors to explore and engage with the lush plant compositions and flowering beds. The pathway allows visitors a way to explore from front to back yard, as well as provide a functional surface that will be durable. In addition to the colorful plants, we created a custom cedar pergola as a focal feature; an place to pause and relax or eat outside. Relaxing in new outdoor spaces, are one of the positive aspects of living in the area. The pergola serves as an extension of the landscape around it. The pergola provides a social setting plus a sense of privacy within the landscape. To create a sensory experience, KDT installed low voltage lighting to light key features, and allow the yard to provided additional inviting space after dark. Ultimately the design thoughtfully provides a balance of natural elements and design considerations that together transforms the outdoor space at Grant Street residence. The results make for an awe inspiring outdoor oasis. The clients shared their excitement with us in regards to the positive outcomes of the landscape and garden, and they expressed joy in how the new landscape addition to the home will enhance their lifestyle.
