KDTurner Design is a Boston based firm that specializes in mid to high-end residential landscape architectural design. We have always been a big believer in working together in the design phase. We listen to our clients as much as to the land (its micro-climate, history and relationship with the broader environment) so that the solutions we create to your landscape issues are the most appropriate. We focus on the detail without losing sight of the bigger picture. Our goal is to create calm, light, livable, sustainable, and landscape-integrated environments. Kimberly Turner is a landscape architect who works primarily in residential landscapes but so also commercial landscapes–urban open space, and she believes strongly in collaboration in the design process. More than just listening to her clients, she listens to the landscape (its micro-climate, history, and connections to the broader environment) to create the pathway forward that delivers the highest quality solutions for the challenges of your landscape. A big picture person with an eye for detail, her designs are comprehensive yet surgical. Kim is known for creating environments that are peaceful, practical, sustainable and architecture meets the site. Yuli Kim, Landscape Architecture Kim is interested in the experience of landscape and the way memory influences people on what they enjoy in a landscape. Strongly convinced of the healing powers of the landscape, she strives to make them accessible and to protect them. Kim has also been in the profession for more than a decade and a half which means she has a lot of experience and talent to showcase in her projects. With a degree in horticulture and landscape architecture, she wrote the book Botany for Designers, and won an ASLA honor award for her graduate work. As a result of her reputation and experience, she can leverage her relationships in the trade to expedite the process and produce the most successful project possible.

We develop landscapes that are kinda functional, appeal to the eye and most importantly, are sustainable.

Your initial consultation with KDTurner Design is collaborative and exploratory, focusing on your inspiration and goals. Our Lead Designer, Kimberly Turner will sit down with you to discuss your vision and your wants and needs with your landscape and any unique issues that you face with it. This is an opportunity for us to hear your ideas and understand your day-to-day life and how you will be using your outside space. We will also visit the site and observe its characteristics, micro-climate and history. This will help us to identify your goals and allows us to offer design solutions that can help build the foundation for a successful landscaping project when we combine them with our experience.

KDTurner Design provides continuing maintenance so that your freshly landscaped areas can continue to look beautiful and thrive through time. Landscape maintenance can be tricky, so we create your maintenance plan according to your needs and your landscape properties. This includes regular mowing, pruning and trimming, weeding, fertilization and seasonal cleanup, in addition to maintenance on the custom features you have such as fire pits or water features. Teaming up with us for upkeep also helps you maintain your investment and spend more time enjoying that outdoor space — rather than worrying about the maintenance.

We could finish little projects in as few days, larger more complex designs could take many weeks or months to finalize. If we have a partnership, we stay in touch during the process, keeping you up to date and helping everything run smoothly. We strive to provide the best possible work in the shortest amount of time we can without sacrificing detail.
