Midwestern Estate Located in the heart of the Midwest, the 'Midwestern Estate' by Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects represents the pinnacle of refined landscaping design that seamlessly integrates with the natural landscape. Working in the energized communities of Chicago, Chicago Heights, Elmwood Park, Glenview, Melrose Park, and Oak Park, our design team engaged in conceptualizing, designing, constructing, and transforming this estate into a spectacular outdoor space. The initial design process wove a verdant palette of native plants with tasteful hardscapes, establishing a cohesive relationship between the indoor and outdoor living environments. The pathways and patios were built using a high-quality, local stone to maintain durability while remaining consistent with the estate's architectural expression. A grand water feature that reflected the beauty of the landscape was constructed as the central defining feature of the garden and served as an attraction for wildlife as well as guests. One of the challenges was working with varied site topography which required thoughtful grading and drainage to avoid erosion and damaging the plan. To facilitate drainage, we used innovative techniques such as rain gardens and permeable pavers to manage stormwater, capturing the benefits of overland flow while improving the aesthetic and functional aspects of the landscape. The final design is an outdoor space that not only fulfills the client's vision but also enhances biodiversity and sustainability outcomes. Seating arrangements have been allowed and in flower colors varying from spring to fall, each component including plant specification and placement was scrutinized and constructed with detail. Hoerr Schaudt, in the 'Midwestern Estate', illustrates quality craftmanship and progressive design, resulting in a very happy client with their newly created outdoor space.
