Michael J. Dul & Associates, Inc. presents "Traditional Elegance," a landscaping that blends classic design with modern functionality. This was completed in the picturesque suburb of Bloomfield Hills and has provided the owners with a sprawling estate that now serves as an outdoor retreat of tranquility and timeless beauty. The design features a breathtaking array of elements carefully chosen for their beauty and durability: a rainbow of perennial flowers, elegant boxwood hedges, and stately oak trees providing dappled shade as the sun moves during the day. To enhance the classic look and feel, we chose natural stone pathways and a gracefully arched trellis with climbing jasmine as a welcoming entrance. One of the principal challenges we ultimately faced was the grading of uneven terrain and the subsequent building of the retaining wall to allow for proper drainage and stabilization of the landscape. Although we weren't entirely confident that we could achieve the grade we wanted, with precision and local granite and limestone, it worked perfect within the context of the surrounding landscape and created the solid foundation for the features above. The end result was stunning. The color palette of flowers and textures of stone mixed with greenery make it a beautiful visual experience. The owner remarked how pleased they were with the finished landscape: A recreation of their outdoor space providing the perfect setting for family gatherings and peaceful evenings in the mountains while gazing up at the stars.
