About This Project

West Bloomfield Contemporary Estate Located in the heart of Oakland County, the Contemporary Estate designed by Michael J. Dul & Associates, Inc. brings together modern architecture and natural beauty. This comprehensive landscaping renovation converted a large lot into an outdoor space with clean lines and a sophisticated appearance. The emphasized a carefully selected palette of native plants, drought tolerant perennials and ornamental grasses to elevate the character of the estate and be environmentally sustainable. A bold natural stone path made from locally-sourced bluestone leads visitors through the landscaping, and well-placed LED lights highlight the architectural elements of the home and feature plants around the garden. A primary challenge given throughout the was the varying topography on the property. This required site grading for adequate drainage and to create usable outdoor spaces. Our team designed tiered planting beds and a custom terrace that resolved the drainage issues as well as provided a view of the surrounding vista. The thoughtful outcome is a beautiful balance of architecture, function and form through the use of a tranquil water feature as an auditory backdrop for the lush surroundings, and a large patio for entertaining. In fact, the patio is now the preferred gathering space for family and friends that combine leisure within an elegant setting.
