We created a beautiful integration of natural stone, custom seating, and plants that work beautifully together and complement the outdoor environment. The design of the patio incorporated a multi-level design with ample space crafted with carefully chosen flagstone which has a beautiful aesthetic appeal and durability. We selected stone that will stand up to the unpredictable weather patterns of Texas and remain timeless for years to come. We also built-in seating solutions from locally sourced cedar, that works well within the natural landscape and is comfortable and efficient when entertaining in larger groups. One of the challenges we faced was the slope of the site. To mitigate this unavoidable issue, we created several retaining walls that were made of natural boulders. These walls helped contain the slope to make the space usable, but added rustic character as well. The retaining walls provided the distinct leveling for the patio and allowed us to work with the landscape as opposed to disrupting the integrity of it. We also installed strategically placed LED lighting to create ambiance in the early evening that illuminates the pathways and highlights the rich vegetation. Lastly, we incorporated native plants. Native plants have a low maintenance strategy, create habitats, and thrive in the Central Texas climate. In other words, we put together all visual appeal while also enhancing biodiversity.
