of the Vegetable Garden by Geared for Growing Landscape Services In the heart of Sonoma County, Geared for Growing Landscape Services transformed a small backyard into a productive Vegetable Garden that provides beautiful fresh produce and immerses our clients into an outdoor oasis for relaxation. Our team devoted thoughtful planning to the design of the Vegetable Garden to create an inviting space for the communities of Forestville, Fulton, Geyserville, Guerneville, Healdsburg, Larkfield, Wikiup, Rio Nido, Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, Villa Grande, and Windsor. The Vegetable Garden features raised planting beds made from sustainably sourced redwood. The raised beds can withstand time while offering a refined look, which ties well into the surrounding landscape. We included a wide assortment of heirloom vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and zucchini, as well as culinary herbs like basil, rosemary and more. We used companion planting for many of the crops to bolster biodiversity and create a dynamic ecosystem that encourages plant interactions and provides natural pest deterrents. Given the location of the Vegetable Garden, the most significant initial challenge we faced was working in and around some large overgrown trees that provided too much shade for the garden to thrive. Our team tackled this challenge by systematically pruning and reshaping the surrounding landscape, so the area could maximize the sunny exposure needed for the plants to grow. We also amended the soil with organic materials to achieve an optimal soil quality and produce nutrient-rich earth for the root systems of the crops. Our team installed an effective drip irrigation system that was designed to reduce water waste, while also providing the constant flow of moisture needed for vegetables. Along with all of the above-mentioned features, you can enjoy walkability in the garden with path sections made from natural stone in a rustic style that ties into the garden well with maintenance and harvesting access. The end result was a thriving Vegetable Garden that keeps our clients happy with an abundant source of fresh and healthy produce, while also providing their family and friends a beautiful space in which to enjoy being outdoors. The turned out to be a great example for not just the quality of our craftsmanship, but also a representation of our company's philosophy in place of the client's product.
