A large residential estate was converted into a beautiful outdoor environment that marries the needs for utility with nature's beauty. The revolves around the creation of lush, comfortable spaces to improve the home's overall beauty while focusing on environmental sustainability. The most notable feature of the was an extremely well-planned native planting garden with plants that add seasonal color and textural diversity while promoting local biodiversity. The property features a well-designed irrigation system that uses reclaimed water to conserve natural resources while keeping plants healthy and beautiful for the homeowner. Along with the plants, a hardscape integration into the existing architecture posed some challenges to our team. A locally sourced stone was selected for patios, walkways, and walls so that hardscape integrated seamlessly into the landscape. The addition of a custom outdoor kitchen and fire pit area added another social space onto the property. The landscape did face some challenges from sloping and problematic soil conditions, but our team was able to accommodate the existing landscape and use techniques such as soil amendment and aggressive grading techniques so that plantings would establish well. The final product is a beautiful landscape that depicts more functional and seasonal opportunities than the client ever dreamed of, with gently winding paths, soothing water elements, and beautiful flower beds changing throughout the seasons.
