Summary: Conscious Stream Scape 2 Year Update - Silverlake In Silverlake, Ketti Kupper Conscious Life Design's 'Conscious Stream Scape' represent's our dedication to nature and impact of living sustainably through landscaping. The Conscious Stream Scape has matured beautifully into an oasis of life where the aesthetics and sustainability coexist. The features include a designed bioswale that collects and processes stormwater to naturally maintain biodiversity. The native plants were selected because they can thrive in the conditions of the site after installation as they were grown to endure rocky soils and had shown low water demand. A blosom of wildflowers has sprouted up in many areas sustainably providing entertainment for pollinators while facilitating the site to be lively and attractive. The design provides permeable pavers that not only create a natural aesthetic in the site but assist in groundwater recharge when the walkways are used by the clients. Sustainable building landscape involves responsible water management when possible. There were various challenges. The first one is that the landscape itself had rocks and was rocky during the time of install. Secondly, we had to duble our social expertise in balancing the maintanence of existing trees and introducing new species. In each of these cases, we found care and catered our plan to stay as one. The trees are still standing and thrive today. Our expertise ensured them without sacrificing a beautiful benefit of design consisting of a certain amount of native and sustainable plant species. The final result creates a landscape that embodies quality for our client and us and stands as an example for sustainable design in the area. It invites relaxing natures in a space that the client has still cherished to visit. The conscious streamscape further represents our long term skill in landscape building that spirit both natural beauty and ecological integrity in the greater Los Angeles area.
