About This Project

Chic Sustainable Entry Garden - Los Feliz Ketti Kupper Conscious Life Design is proud to present the Chic Sustainable Entry Garden at our latest in the creative Los Feliz neighborhood. This landscaping was designed to bring structure and designed landscape to the residential lot while supporting the local environment. The planting palette consists of only drought-tolerant plants, including native California plants, that provide habitats for local species while being low-maintenance. To create an eco-friendly entry into the residential home, we incorporated permeable pavers that facilitate rainwater absorption to reduce run-off, which allows rainwater access to the plants, while still bringing a stylish hardscape element. One challenge we faced with our design is that much of the existing landscape (hardscape edging) appeared to block access to sunlight as well as water to the plants. The slope, which was created in the garden design, allows for rainwater to flow through the garden and collect in pockets for distribution throughout the garden. Strategic revisions for distances from the hardscapes and existing structure informed the slope to maximize sunlight and rainwater exposure. We also used reclaimed wood for garden edging, which adds a rustic-modern look to the space. The final design of the entry garden demonstrates a beautiful ethos of sustainability; inviting and rich in green and colorful plants. The client was delighted with her new garden space, which she commented feels like her own tranquil getaway, as well as her new eastside neighbor's all now engage in conversation her new garden. With its high-quality plant material and plants designed cup-edge, the Chic Sustainable Entry garden is a true testament to Ketti Kupper Conscious Life Design's design intent to provide beauty, functionality, and sustainability in landscape design.
