Backyard Retreat by Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop Inc Piala's Nursery & Garden Shop Inc is excited to share our latest backyard transformation the 'Backyard Retreat', which turned a simple outdoor space into something extraordinary for an incredibly appreciative client in the beautiful Waukesha community - as well as clients in surrounding areas, including Big Bend, Brookfield, Delafield, and others. A large focus of this was the multi-tiered patio created from locally manufactured natural stone, which gives the patio a long-lasting, durable style while serving as an attractive base for outdoor entertaining. The landscape was designed to include edible and native plants, using ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and the necessary evergreens to guarantee interest throughout the seasons. One of the most difficult hurdles was the grade of the backyard, which we solved, in part, through the use of retaining walls made of rot-resistant timber. These provided both stability to the backyard and differences in elevation which promotes discovery and ease of movement throughout the yard. The crew also hand-picked robust components for this because we wanted the garden to last for many seasons without losing its intended purpose or character. The outcome is nothing short of amazing. The clients have a place to escape entertaining and sitting around the fire pit with family and friends. It can be used at day-light or at night - the type of thoughtful lighting included in the design elevates an enjoyable spot - while allowing the room to break up the dark with the plants acting as visual and support features. The clients' vision of a beautifully-designed, functional utility for relaxing, as well as socializing, is fulfilled, and it shows - you can tell how happy they are to have a wonderfully-designed landscape to enjoy.
