Lakeside Retreat by Harmony Design Group Situated within the idyllic context of Westfield, the 'Lakeside Retreat' by Harmony Design Group demonstrates our goal of creating outer spaces that integrate seamlessly into their surroundings. Our service areas of Berkeley Heights, Cranford, Fanwood, Livingston, Madison, Maplewood, Millburn, Morristown, Mountainside, New Providence, Scotch Plains, South Orange, Summit, and Montclair gave us the opportunity to develop this lakeside property into a tranquil escape. The process began with a thorough site analysis, recognizing the aspects unique to the site, such as the gentle slopes, vegetation, and spectacular views of the lake. Each detail was carefully created to implement a multi-tiered landscape with a mix of native plants, ornamental grasses, and seasonal flowering shrubs for year-round interest while considering the low input of water consumption. Central to the design was a zigzag stone pathway made of native bluestone, immersing visitors into the gardens and leading directly to the lake's edge and a seating area to enjoy the view. Additionally, a custom building stone fire pit was incorporated with natural boulders to keep families and friends together while enjoying the lakeside and natural setting. One of the difficulties we contended with was applying proper drainage on the property. We built a rain garden that serves a dual role of artwork and functional water management, while also being environmentally friendly. One of the challenges our design team appreciated was harmonizing the new settings with the existing area, propelling features that we were proud to develop with sustainable materials that lasted the test of time while staying true to rustic quality. For example, we used reclaimed wood on decking and long-life furniture that was weather reusable. At the conclusion of the , the new 'Lakeside Retreat' was a lovely landscape that upheld the basis of the 'Lakeside Retreat' while exceeding the clients' expectations. In summary, the makeup of this landscape was a breathtaking space for enjoyment and relaxation, combining nature and comfort. The story of this Lakeside property represents the philosophy we uphold as Harmony Design Group, which is designed to inspire excitement and be told through generations. The clients loved their retreat, and we continued the chain of memories made together lakeside.
