This exemplifies how the neighborhood's historic flair can be elegantly blended with today's landscaping styles. Located on an interior street within the Mission Hills neighborhood, this illustrates our creative dedication to quality workmanship and innovative design for our clients in Cardiff By The Sea, Carlsbad, Encinitas, La Costa, and beyond. The commenced with a comprehensive analysis of the existing landscape that incorporated large pieces of a traditional landscape style, where the landscape was overgrown, hiding the house behind the shrubs and trees. Our team had to rethink the space to evoke a design with a contemporary style, while also preserving the historical style of the neighborhood. We redesigned the layout while considering planting materials that could live in the unique San Diego climate, while also being created with a native plant palette, keeping sustainability and low maintenance in mind. The outdoor experience was enhanced through the addition of several hardscape features throughout the property, including a custom bluestone pathway in addition to a seating area made of reclaimed wood that seamlessly compliments the historical architecture of the house. Water features were integrated throughout, along with lighting, to create ambiance and provide lighting for after dark, to provide a serene atmosphere and outdoor oasis. Kathy Henry Exterior Design is focused on creating landscape designs that use quality elements, such as natural stone and eco-friendly mulch. The un-level terrain was a challenge for our team, but we took our time and with careful grading, we were able to create a functional and visually pleasing landscape. The end result is a magnificent landscape that fulfills the client's vision while bringing character to the Historic Mission Hills neighborhood.
