Edible Estate by Natalie DeNormandie Located in the heart of suburbia, Natalie DeNormandie began a landscaping d 'Edible Estate,' which aimed to address the aesthetic nature of landscaping while embracing functional sustainability. Natalie serves a wide breadth of clients in the Greater Boston area, which includes clients in Acton, Arlington, and Wellesley, MA. The Edible Estate exhibited Natalie's commitment to creating an aesthetically pleasing outdoor environment that was also functional and sustainable. The Edible Estate's landscape included a thoughtfully designed layout of raised vegetable beds, herb spirals, and fruit trees. The team used quality, locally sourced materials while constructing long-lasting cedar planters that enhanced the aesthetics of the garden while providing excellent drainage for the plants. The pathway was constructed using permeable pavers to absorb rainwater into the ground, fostering environmental sustainability. The was challenged by the site's varying topography. As the planting had to produce under varied sun exposure, the team had to reinvent the site's grading to account for sunlight exposure. The process of improving soil quality was also addressed by developing a composting system to enrich the soil quality while reducing waste. These challenges were taken with ingenuity and expertise to develop a thriving garden that thrives in its native environment. The descendants, in the end, are the beautiful harmony of beauty and bounty. The lush green complements the colorful flowers in bloom, and seasonal crops produce a harvest for the enjoyment of the homeowner. Not only has the Edible Estate contributed to the value of the home, it also contributes to a more connected relationship between the clients and their natural environment.
