Mar Vista Contemporary The Mar Vista Contemporary is an exceptional by Segal Shuart Landscape Architects that artfully contrasts contemporary design with the existing landscape. The is located in the middle of Los Angeles and was specially designed to enhance outdoor living while simplifying it with the surrounding environment. This contemporary design utilizes a clean and geometric design pattern, along with a drought tolerant plant palette, which is common to California, for the plants used throughout. The includes an inviting, open air patio, custom seating areas, and an interesting water feature as a focal point, which creates an oasis feel. As the progressed, one of our main challenges was balancing sustainable practices backed by aesthetics. We resolved this challenge by working with locally sourced materials including natural stone and reclaimed wood, which boosted the aesthetic and rustic appeal of contemporary design while minimizing carbon footprint. We also introduced smart irrigation systems to ensure the utmost use of water given our ecological commitment. The end result is a beautiful outdoor space that the client is ecstatic , showcasing a perfect harmony between form and function.
