About This Project

Altadena Spanish Cottage Located in Altadena, this presents a wonderful combination of traditional Spanish aesthetics and modern landscape design approaches and available materials. An inviting landscape was designed, abundant with lush lawn, colorful flowering plants, and beautiful hardscaping elements for relaxation or celebration. Our team tackled unique forms of existing problems, such as topography and drainage, all while maintaining historical integrity. Regaining the cottage's feel, pathways were made from reclaimed terracotta tiles. Custom wrought iron and wood made the entry and exit vivid, while decorative cacti added style and aesthetics, while functioning drought-resistant plants filled out the landscape with color and change. The chest of the garden is remarkable courtyard defined by the presence of fountains that have been frequently handcrafted to be beautiful and calming. Surrounding the courtyard are wonderful herbs and native plants that are aromatically participatory and enhance sensory and welcoming experiences. There are shaded seating areas to congregate or to escape the midday sun for family activities and quiet contemplation. The resulting is a cohesive outdoor living space that welcomed the client into their love of Spanish architecture with more authenticity and charm.
