Spanish Inspired Courtyards by Park Slope Design Located in beautiful Santa Fe and beyond in places like Taos and Santa Monica, Park Slope Design has recently wrapped up the ‘Spanish Inspired Courtyards’ , an incredible nod to the tradition of Spanish architecture and gardens. The site became a transformed outdoor living area, exemplifying the connection between heritage, agricultural and social systems while incorporating the clients' needs for modern outdoor function used in the climates of Los Angeles and Albuquerque. In this , the hand-laid terracotta tiles combined an exceptional warmth and necessary colors found into the palette of the Spanish countryside, while the rustic stucco walls present local charm and longevity. Native plants, lavender and rosemary, were carefully left to establish themselves in the situation to compliment the aromatic charm of the courtyard and to be low water use residents of the Albuquerque ecosystem. The bougainvillea and jasmine work well as vertical interest with color and an intent to use the courtyards for relaxation or inspiration. One of the most difficult aspects of the courtyards were the modern drainage systems needed in partnership with the historical aspects of the . Park Slope Design was able to innovate the problem of both sites with quality and sophisticated drainage systems, providing longevity without affecting the historical significance of the courtyard. The host site had wonderful variations in terrain that engaged one to create tiered levels without forming walls of mess introduced by broken concrete to intimate green spaces embroidered by surrounding materials. The final outcome exceeded expectations. The clients were thrilled to enjoy their new outdoor spaces, with each courtyard becoming an intensity of all-in-one, chi spaces to entertain and luxuriate quietly. The mix of Spanish elements and crafted outdoor spaces had not only created value to the property but also changed the way the clients entertained and used outdoor space or quiet effective spaces.
