Santa Fe South Capitol Eclectic Completed by Park Slope Design Located in centrally located Santa Fe, the d ‘Santa Fe South Capitol Eclectic’ is a testament to the melding of art and nature by Park Slope Design. It is a unique outdoor space designed to balance local vegetation and modern design to achieve the goals of our clients. After an extensive site analysis, we began to think through and visualize the existing site conditions of the terrain and the need for sustainable uses of water. This included the planning of native plants like blue grama grass and desert marigold to give color and help sustain ecology. We also included drought tolerant shrubs and perennials to advance sustainability through reduced irrigation and higher biodiversity. The next challenge was designing related hardscape uses, drawing on the visual compliment between hardscapes and naturally beauty in the outdoor spaces. We decided on locally sourced flagstone for the pathways and patios to create a material that feels organic and represents the Santa Fe aesthetic. We also selected decorative boulders and sculptural features that create site elements for character and layering, engage the senses, and invite discovery. One of the most enjoyable areas developed in this was a custom seating area made from reclaimed wood and the incorporation of multi-colored cushions for comfort and aesthetics. This space improves functionality in the outdoor space for family and friends that utilize it. The final product is an intriguing eclectic garden that engages the cultural history of Santa Fe while fulfilling the modern needs of the client. The unique fun mixture of textures, color, and forms makes the ‘Santa Fe South Capitol Eclectic’ not just a landscaping , it is a source of peace and creativity.
