Watching a Xeriscape Grow Business: Colorado Vista Landscape Design, Inc. Service Area: Fort Collins, Laporte, Loveland, Severance, Timnath, Windsor In northern Colorado, Colorado Vista Landscape Design, Inc. recently completed a transformative xeriscape entitled "Watching a Xeriscape Grow." The objective behind this was to create a sustainable and visually attractive landscape that sustains in arid landscapes while drastically reducing the amount of water used for conventional landscaping. A native plant list was created in order to assist the design team in choosing plants that are not just aesthetically pleasing but that encourage biodiversity while thriving in the local climate. Plants that were included in the design consisted of ornamental grasses, hardy succulents, and wildflowers, and were situated with the intent to create seasonal visual interest. Locally sourced river rock and decomposed granite were utilized in the to create an organic earthy aesthetic while allowing for proper drainage. The raised a challenge of uneven ground which required creative grading to create proper drainage and maintain plant health. Contour beds and swales were used to move water when it moves around our site to encourage water to benefit the plants as well as reduce erosion. The end product is a beautiful xeriscape which manages to combine beauty with function, with complete satisfaction from our client in having their low-maintenance oasis. Beyond providing this client with "Watching a Xeriscape Grow," we are proud to showcase our craftsmanship that combines environmental attention with sustainable landscaping for the visual beauty of Fort Collins and surrounding areas. Our client is now enjoying a flourishing landscape with minimal maintenance, proof that sustainable landscapes can be beautiful and environmentally responsible.
