Located in one of the finest neighborhoods in Houston, the landscape was planned and executed with the intention of complementing the formal architecture of the residence, while increasing curb appeal. The included a carefully curated plant palette that included native Texan plants with some exotics in the landscape that enhanced the warm and sustainable environment. The diversity of functional greenery, including tall live oaks and fragrant gardenias, complemented the decorative stone walkways and custom retaining walls, made of local limestone, while providing durability against unpredictable Houston weather. One of the challenges on the property was a generally sloped landscape as it lent itself to either a grading challenge or erosion, erosion mitigation away from walkways and proper drainage. We successfully implemented a more sophisticated drainage system and created tiered garden beds for functionality and visual interest. We also created a calm outdoor living space around the water feature, which provides entertainment and aesthetic appeal. At night, enhanced ambient lighting creates an inviting space and form of entertainment inviting family and friends to linger beyond sunset.
