Washington Park Residence Located in Seattle, the Washington Park Residence of Richard Hartlage Land Morphology represents an integration of nature and design that was tailored to the special needs of the homeowner. The landscape transformation is a of over 10,000 square feet and incorporates an integration of local plant materials, modern hardscapes, and sustainable practices. The first aspect of the to encounter is the welcoming entry path that is made with locally sourced basalt pavers leading to a central gathering space within the site that has a custom fire pit. The surrounding gardens create a carefully curated collection of drought-resistant plants, including native wildflowers, evergreen shrubs, and additional plant material that provide beauty and care for the environment throughout the seasons. One of the greatest challenges in the was working with an uneven site. Richard Hartlage's team designed a series of terraced gardens that added visual interest and provided good drainage engaged with the soil for sustainable growth. To promote permeability and lots less runoff for the homeowner's desire for sustainability, Richard Hartlage Land Morphology incorporated permeable elements for landscaping. The outcome, the successful design of a beautiful outdoor space, has pleased the homeowner and the community. They now have an oasis to retreat to, with beautiful views and spaces for friends and family to entertain outside.
