### Laurelhurst Residence: A Harmonious Blend of Nature and Design The Laurelhurst Residence is a Robert Hartlage Land Morphology that represents the highest achievement in landscape design by integrating nature and the built environment. Located in a calm corner of Laurelhurst, the converted a large urban lot to an outdoor green space that is both beautiful and useful. As part of the , a custom outdoor living space was created with a beautiful stone patio to enjoy time with family and friends. The used high-quality bluestone to enhance the beauty and durability of the structure while providing an impressive contrast with the colorful plantings. A custom fire pit with surrounding seating will allow friends and family to enjoy cozy nights together, while a built-in grill station allows for easy outdoor cooking and entertaining. One of the major obstacles faced for this was the ample change in topography of the site, as well drainage issues. The team successfully developed a series of terraced gardens that not only mitigated stormwater runoff issues, but also create a level of interest in the landscape. The terraced gardens contain native plants and ornamental grasses that encourage biodiversity, while reinforcing the natural beauty of the landscape. Along with these terraces, a smart irrigation system was installed to promote a healthy longevity of plant life, while conserving water, all to keep in line with the client’s interest in sustainability. The use of local materials helps to support the community in the Pacific Northwest, while also aiding the landscape’s connection with its natural setting. In the end, the is a beautiful outdoor space that delights the clients and fits their lifestyle.
