Madison Park Residence Built by Richard Hartlage Land Morphology, the Madison Park Residence is a beautiful example of detailed craftsmanship and innovative design. Located in the beautiful residential neighborhood of Madison Park, Seattle, this took a simple outdoor space and transformed it into a lush landscape oasis that harmoniously integrates into the natural setting. The landscape consists of a mixture of native plantings, drought tolerant perennials, and ornamental grasses that have been specifically selected to thrive in the climate of the Pacific Northwest. A beautiful stone path made using locally sourced basalt provides a durable and visual surface for walking through the gardens. One particular challenge of the site was a sloped lot which Richard Hartlage's team solved by implementing a series of beautiful terraced gardens that not only enhanced the visual interest of the landscape but also improved drainage and soil stability. Reclaimed wood was used to create walls and add an element of organic beauty to the landscape, helping with the integration of the landscape into the site. The completed water feature, a recirculating stream and small pond, adds a calming tone to the garden, attracting local wildlife and providing a relaxing atmosphere for outdoor gatherings. Geographically located seating, made from sustainably harvested wood, facilitates the enjoyment of the landscape, offering designated places to relax or contemplate. Ultimately, a beautiful landscape was created that is a significant improvement on the client's vision, and provides a landscaping space for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying the beauty of the natural world.
