Minneapolis Gabion by Stonepocket Unique Landscapes The 'Minneapolis Gabion' embodying Stonepocket Unique Landscapes' dedication to great design and high-quality craftsmanship, takes place in the center of Minneapolis. Through this , we were able to take an unimpressive planar backyard and transform it into a beautiful gathering space that is [functionally] and aesthetically impressive. At the heart of the design were custom gabion walls made using high quality and weather resistant steel mesh and filled with river stones from the area. The gabion walls serve a structural function as well as a visual feature. The use of sustainable source materials was important to us, and we were pleased to limit our footprint on the natural environment. A significant challenge to the property was dealing with drainage issues. Our impactful solution was to engineer a drainage system into the landscape for proper water management that addressed the location's water pooling problems while creating an attractive visual feature to the overall design and extending the life of the garden. The outcome was a breathtaking outdoor experience and retreat with tiered planting beds filled with a diversity of native plants that can sustain wildlife and encourage biodiversity. Beautiful and functional natural stone pathways linked different parts of the garden inviting interaction and relaxation. The clients were thrilled to have a true beautiful outdoor experience that met their original expectations of outdoor living.
