The challenge of the 'Stone Front Gate' was to provide an inviting entry that complemented its natural surroundings yet, at the same time, serve as an architectural focal point. For this , they used locally sourced bluestone with a high Schmidt hardness and precision cutting and laying for the archway that identifies the home both elegantly and robustly. The characterful variations of colour in the stone offered a magnificent canvas amongst the lush greenery of the property. It was a significant challenge but the property has a fairly steep incline so we had to do some custom work to create not only a stable base but an aesthetic one as well. While building the new gate, our team also determined where retaining walls could help shape the land and engineered strong foundations that would not only support the end-state gate itself but also threading seamlessly into the landscape design. Flanking the left and right side of the gate and pillar, we added perennial gardens that provide colorful seasonal flowers and evergreen shrubs to enhance the entrance and interest year-round. Not only is this a visually striking combination, making the stone structure really come alive, but the bright buddleia makes a function first stop welcoming residents and guests alike. The 'Stone Front Gate' proved to be one of the most interesting features of the property upon completion delighting our clients with its craftsman style and artistic appeal. A beautiful mix of materials, quality of finish and with high-end solutions makes this special, turning the entrance into a stunning door to all comers.
