Hillside by Flora Distinctive Landscapes Set against the stunning backdrop of the Colorado Rockies, Flora Distinctive Landscapes' 'Hillside' showcases the pursuit of landscaping excellence and creativity. This also demonstrates our capacity to balance a natural aesthetic with a functional practicality for communities, from Kremmling to Aspen. Inspired by the hillside views that surrounded it, the client came to us with an idea of an outside retreat sanctuary. Working with varying challenges from a prohibitive steep slope to rocky terrain necessitated innovation in grading as well as on-site stone for retaining walls. It provided some strength while also giving it a rustic feel with some elegance. Complementing the allure of the , we incorporated a variety of native plants suitable for the Colorado environment. The aim was to create something sustainable that requires little maintenance. Wildflowers with color and herbs with different fragrances, even resistant shrubs were added to create layers of color and texture throughout the seasons. Natural stone paths wind their way around the gardens, inviting visitors to explore this idyllic setting. One of the highlights of the Hillside is the bespoke fire pit area to spend time with family and unwind with a drink or 2 at nighttime under the stars. An outdoor space with this kind of beautiful stone work surrounding it, creating a perfect outdoor place to entertain. The ultimate vision was surpassed, and an area that had become nothing more than an uninviting, rocky hillside had been elevated into a beautiful, functional space with the correct balance of both relaxation and intrigue.
