Summary: Brooklyn Backyard by Root & Vine Gardens Root & Vine Gardens is excited to present the "Brooklyn Backyard," an overhaul of a backyard in the heart of Brooklyn that exemplifies a new way to experience outdoor living. Serving clients in Jersey City, Manhattan, New York, and Westchester, we engaged this with the idea of developing a peaceful getaway where nature's beauty integrates with usable outdoor space. The aspect featured a well thought out layout with abundant native plants, perennial gardens, and combinations of plants for seasonal interest all installed to be successful in relatively tough growing conditions while attracting pollinators! We selected quality materials from like-minded vendors including stone for the patio and pathways as well as reclaimed wood (both salvaged and built) for custom raised garden beds to add an organic feel to the space. One large challenge for us with this was limited space with an uneven grade and ground in the backyard. After considerable thought we developed a plan and method where our contractor levelled the ground and provided a tiered garden space that utilized the area effectively and provided visual inters. Out custom wooden pergola provided a shaded area for people to enjoy while also serving as the backdrop for outdoor gatherings. To complete the space we also added a small water-feature that created a relaxing sound, while tying the other features together in this urban environment with a soothing aspect of nature. The end result was a beautiful and cohesive backyard that exceeded our client's expectations. This backyard space has devenomited a favorite spot for the family to gather together as well as that forward a biology of lushness in a chaotic city. We are exceptionally honored to have created a purposefully designed landscape that highlights the beauty of Brooklyn, while enhancing our client's experience and lifestyle.
