Bedstuy Brooklyn - Planter Upgrade by Dragonetti Brothers Landscapes We were thrilled to undertake a wonderful enhancement for a planter in the backyard of a residence in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. Our mission was to transform an existing, ordinary outdoor space into a vibrant and lush garden oasis. We wanted to create a garden that was welcoming to use with a design that was consistent with the current architecture and to utilize and maximize both functionality and beautiful visual elements. In our work for this small garden, we selected a range of native plants including colorful perennials, hearty, ornamental grasses, and kitchen herbs for fragrance and culinary uses that would be low-maintenance and adaptable. In addition to these native plants we utilized top-notch building materials including natural stone for the planter beds, and soil amendments that would encourage organic health to the planting area, and longevity of use. We were faced with limited yard space as a substantial design consideration, but were able to create vertical planters that not only increased the impact of the space, but also added an element of color and height when viewed from the various adjacent building spaces. Because water conservation was also a goal, drip irrigation systems were incorporated that helped utilize the yard's water efficiently, in addition to our organic landscaping. The outcome of the was a stunning transformation, which brought our client joy! There are so many incredible colors and textures in the vegetation used in this garden to now create a restful landscape they can use for relaxation and casual gatherings with friends. The layout was well designed for ease of access and for maintenance so that they could easily count this design as an asset to their living space for years to come.
