About This Project

Somerset Ridge is a transformative outdoor living project situated in the scenic backdrop of Boise, Idaho. The primary objective was to enhance the backyard, focusing on creating an inviting outdoor kitchen, multiple sitting areas, and a serene hot tub retreat, all while ensuring privacy from neighboring properties. Initially, the residence boasted stunning views of the Boise foothills, but a new home nearby disrupted this focal point, drawing attention to an unsightly roof instead. To address this, we developed four distinct design concepts that not only preserved the spectacular views but also effectively screened the neighbors’ roof, providing a sense of enclosure that complements the home's architectural lines. After thoughtful consideration and the presentation of detailed plans and SketchUp models, a final design emerged that encapsulated the clients’ vision. The centerpiece of this project is a multi-level deck and patio, expertly crafted to create a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The outdoor kitchen is a highlight, featuring a wood-burning pizza oven that invites culinary creativity and social gatherings, while an outdoor TV ensures entertainment for family and friends alike. Additionally, the design incorporates an enclosed Eldorado Stone courtyard, which adds a sophisticated touch to the landscape. This sanctuary includes a moongate that gracefully frames the entrance to the spa and workout area, enhancing the overall aesthetics while providing functional spaces for relaxation and fitness. To ensure privacy and separation between the spa and workout areas, a meticulously designed screen fence was installed, allowing for an uninterrupted experience in these personal retreats. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in this project reflect a commitment to quality and design excellence. Completed by LCG in 2011, the Somerset Ridge project successfully redefined the outdoor living experience, turning a previously overlooked area into a stunning oasis that fosters enjoyment, relaxation, and connection with nature.
