### Dana Point || by Altera Landscape Located lakeside on the beautiful Dana Point coastline, Altera Landscape applied our unique vision of quality and design by completing a landscape installation that purposefully enhances the existing beauty of the area while creating tranquility for the homeowners. Our focus was a well-curated package of drought-tolerant plants native to the coastal environment to enhance the look of a blooming garden. Plants were used in a full range of seasons, from California lilac and red-flowering currants to ornamental grasses. Our aesthetic consideration was balanced with sustainability so that we could offer the homeowner a colorful space throughout the year with minimal water and maintenance. The required a premium materials budget for natural stone pathways and decorative concrete borders; exceptional materials not only allowed us to easily transition between zones in the garden but also enhanced the beauty of the entire space. One of the challenges was creating a design that addressed significant slope with crags capable of Thompson Bolts for erosion control. To meet the slope challenge, Altera Landscape engineered a series of terraced gardens that "spilled" gracefully into the patio; environmentally friendly retaining walls created from locally sourced stone enhanced the beauty of the terraced spaces while simultaneously stabilizing the soil. The completed is an expansive outdoor living space featuring an inviting patio with plenty of seating for guests, a water feature for ideally relaxed listening sounds, and is surrounded by lush green foliage with colorful blooms throughout the entire space regardless of season or drought. The homeowners were very happy we were able to complete the scope of work with and on time as they were still able to enjoy their beautiful and comfortable home outside.
