Description of the Landscape Architect Magazine by Altera Landscape Situated in Southern California, Altera Landscape is excited to announce their 'Landscape Architect Magazine,' an example of modern elegance, natural beauty, quality, and creativity. Located in the beautiful Aliso Viejo, Laguna Beach, and Newport Coast area, this converted a large outdoor area into a magical escape that works with the environment. The design consists of a variety of native plants with the aesthetic quality of sustainability, selected for their drinking requirements and maintenance. A beautiful flagstone path winds its way through the landscape, quarried from the area, which enhances both durability and nature's beauty. Vibrant colorful flower beds burst with life in the appropriate areas and richness, adding depth and texture to the overall look and ecosystem in respect to pollinators. The sloping terrain created unique challenges relating to drainage and erosion. We implemented a tiered garden design with walls constructed from reclaimed wood as retaining walls that blend in with the natural landscape to create form and function. This allows us to harness environmental considerations and beauty to create a stunning landscape. Our work culminated in creating a custom water feature to float over boulders to create movement and sound, with the intention of producing a great atmosphere with the sounds of the water flowing. This is also used as a focal point which leads the eye and establishes a calmness for the outdoor living area. Our attention to detail, along with the high-quality experience in craftsmanship made the entire landscape feature come together. The clients are overjoyed with their new landscape which highlights their style and enhances their outdoor living experience.
