Residential Landscape by Three Trails LLC At Three Trails LLC, a residential landscape in Overland Park, Kansas was carried out that connected the environment to the home’s style, while providing distinct spaces with a suitable level of functionality. Within the landscape scope, a significant amount of thought went into the design of many applied elements such as a custom stone patio from locally sourced bluestone, including resilient, refined spaces for family & friends to gather. Adjacent to the patio was a fire pit out of natural stone, surrounded by lounge furniture that created an attractive location for evening gatherings. A path and patio system made out of decorative river rock was installed that allows guests to wander through inhabited flowerbeds of many combinations of perennials & native plants that were planned for their seasonal bloom cycle, aesthetics, and maintenance. The site had a moderate sloped surface. One of the difficulties was to use that slope to enhance the home as opposed to being a liability in flooding & eroded soil. A tiered garden was engineered to become both an attractive aspect of the site while also providing a way to improve drainage and mitigate erosion. Beautiful and functional retaining walls made of reclaimed timber were implemented, reinforcing structure with a natural appearance. The outcome is a vibrant and somewhat mischievous landscape that is representative of the personality and lifestyles of the homeowner. The utility of the plants and stone increase an already layered aesthetic of seasonal and textural richness that defines artistry in the outdoor space. The satisfied clients now recline in a vibrant oasis right outside the rear door of their home.
