About This Project

McCallie School Residence Dream Gardens Landscape Design & Installation is thrilled to announce the newly completed spectacular landscaping at the McCallie School Residence located on the grounds of this premier school in beautiful Chattanooga. We took on the task of bringing the outdoor spaces more in line with the excellent, historic, and storied school it serves as a home to. The result was a balance of native plantings, from the regionally based material discoveries as well as imaginative featured action. Within the design we carefully selected low water-use plants including colorful perennials and hardy shrubs offering a beautiful tapestry of color that blooms for multiple seasons. Durable yet charming, the pathways are made from local stone specifically designed to guide students and faculty around the grounds. A key challenge was working out how to use the existing topography in our landscaping design. Our talented design team worked with the lay of the land to prepare tiered gardens contributing not only aesthetics to the design of the school, but also the drainage of water and health of soil. For additional accessibility, gentle slopes and benches are scattered around to rest, study and re-iterate what you learnt. The serene water feature provides a calming space for reflection and a connection with nature. And adding to the lush greenery of the surrounding area, is this which acts as an outdoor classroom as well as enriching student experience. The end product has delighted the McCallie School community and has been commended for its aesthetics and functionality. Families and students can now enjoy a green landscaped space, a safe space to learn, connect, and enjoy nature!
