Wikiup Hilltop by Geared for Growing Landscape Services Located in the beautiful hills of Wikiup, the Wikiup Hilltop is an example of the talent and workmanship of Geared for Growing Landscape Services. The was completed for clients within the many varied and thriving communities, towns and cities of Forestville, Fulton, Geyserville, Guerneville, Healdsburg, Larkfield-Wikiup, Rio Nido, Santa Rosa, Villa Grande, Windsor, and Sebastopol. The clients' property was a larger residential hillside site which we transformed into a tranquil outdoor living space. The process began with the analysis of the site’s physical characteristics and existing plant material. The topography was a challenge, with steep slopes and rocky ground requiring creative grading and performance of retaining wall systems using rock sourced from nearby quarries. The walls provided structural support to the terrace gardens and added to the beauty of the rustic look to the landscapes. To further enhance the landscape we designed a terraced garden containing a contemporary collection of native and drought-tolerant plants. In honor of where we are from, these California native and drought-tolerant plants will showcase the bountiful beauty of the landscape it has grown into without needing additional maintenance and care, other than the landscape itself, each season and year. There is contemporary pathways using decomposed granite to travel through the lush garden areas and unformal evidence of the soil colors of the area. One of the showpiece features is an outdoor living room with a beautiful, handcrafted stone fire pit area with seating created from reclaimed lumber. A lovely gathering space for family and friends, or simply relax at the edge of the hill, all while enjoying the majestic views of the blue hills above and below. Installed landscape irrigation utilizing rainwater collection techniques...a true line of fire of sustainable practices. The resulted in an inspiring landscape that demonstrated little discernment between the property and the contractor’s own environmental surroundings. Ultimately, the homeowner has a retreat into their private backyard realized into their taste and dreams, and the construction process was several times beyond the cozy they have become to realize from a completed . It was our premise to put into practice the state of the art measures of sustainable landscaping that simultaneously and freely provide to the homeowner an aesthetic place for carpentry and space of their making .
