Highland Park, The Garden Design Studio This landscaping by The Garden Design Studio is located in the Highland Park Area. Part of the design approach involves combining beauty and function into a beautiful garden-style setting. Part of this approach includes a stone path made of locally sourced flagstone, which weaves through a tapestry of native plants and ornamental grasses. The flowering perennials were chosen based on drought-tolerant plants that not only contribute to water conservation but also add color and texture throughout the seasons. We were able to add some color with flowering plants, such as the Texas Bluebonnet and Lantana, which have attracted local pollinators, and create an inviting visual display. One challenge we had to work around was the natural topography of the site, which would require innovative solutions for creating terraces that are stable and attractive. Our team used a natural stone retaining wall to accommodate changes in elevation and provide an aesthetically pleasing retaining wall experience. Installing a custom irrigation system assisted in supporting week-long irrigation for all plants, even with the constant high temperature of the summer months in Texas. The end result was a beautiful blend of hardscape and softscape that encapsulated the client's vision of an elegant, yet comfy outdoor space. We were very pleased to add both value to their residence and to create a lovely area for family gatherings and outdoor events. The clients are pleased to have a wonderful outdoor experience in their newly landscaped property that will meet their lifestyle needs.
