Devil in the by Terra Design Located in Seattle's Ballard, Beacon Hill, and Mercer Island neighborhoods, Terra Design is excited to share the "Devil in the ,” which showcased a dedicated outdoor living space with an uncompromising blend of craft and craftsmanship. The typical product of design effort was meant to embrace the sophisticated stylistic palate requested by the client. This featured a planned arrangement of native plants and hardy shrubs, along with ornamental trees and shrubs carefully selected to accentuate the existing elements and stimulate seasonal change for biodiversity. High-quality materials were utilized in the form of natural stone pathways, preserved wood for raised gardens, and bio-based mulch that applied to sustainability and longevity. One of the main challenges was the sloping condition that required some unique approaches to make spaces level for entertaining and relaxing. Terra Design’s team worked to engineer a series of terrace gardens with retaining walls to ensure stability while adding visual appeal to the landscape. There was considerable attention to detail: we also designed custom lighting to wash the abundant plantings with light to create a pleasant seating and entertaining application in the evening. We also included an integrated water feature, designed to mimic streams, to produce soothing sound, biodiversity, and to invoke tranquil qualities to the space. The final approach is stunning, as our client was extremely happy with the transformation from an idea into a well-executed three-dimensional environment. The Devil in the strikes the perfect balance of blended design and nature, and in the end, exemplifies the creed of Terra Design in terms of productivity and craftsmanshipdealing with challenges and offering a spectacular community, functional and beautiful space for the client to enjoy their outdoor living experience.
