Oxford Street, Marina del Rey Weeds Garden Design Build LLC is excited to present the landscaping at Oxford Street - a beautiful yard in the heart of Marina del Rey. This demonstrates our attention to detail in both the quality of the final work and choice of products to suit the needs of the outdoor space. The began with an in-depth consultation to figure out our client’s vision for an oasis that respectfully ties into the coastal style of the surroundings. Our team successfully integrated a wide range of native plants, ensuring both sustainability and wildlife access. Drought-tolerant species, including California poppies and lavender, were chosen to help reduce water use while providing extravagant pops of color and texture. One of the most notable features was the gorgeous natural stone path that meandered throughout the garden, made from locally-sourced flagstone. Anything fabricated with stone is not easily damaged by the elements, and for this reason, included steps laying the path along several of the gardens functional corners, which enhanced beauty and usage of the outdoor space. Careful layered plantings not only created interesting depths of color but also provided agricultural diversity throughout the year, keeping the garden attractive in every season. Another challenge was accommodating the uneven existing soil on the property. Our team leveled the ground, and created an angled multi-tiered landscape to the yard using reclaimed wood as retaining wall capabilities to allow interesting visual appeal and functionality. Working with the slope from the street to the house improved accessibility of the yard and also created multiple seating areas behind the house for the family to enjoy spectating entertainment, entertaining guests, or enjoying the quiet. The outcome is a gorgeous and well-constructed garden that simply delights our client, including natural wood furniture and soft seating in its own section surrounded by inviting fragrant blossoms and greens. The entire turned out brilliantly; it fulfilled the client’s vision for a multi-functional space appropriate for family gatherings, yet ultimately exceeding his expectations and providing a multifaceted retreat for family and friends.
