Water Wise Garden Image: Garden Nest Residential Landscape Deep within the colorful communities of the East Bay, lies a mischief, the Water Wise Garden an experimental and collaborative venture on the part of Garden Nest Residential Landscape, a melding of beauty and nature that considers some of our most basic needs. With a focus throughout Alameda and down to the South Bay, our crew was passionate creating a landscape that would be eye-catching and green! The started with a full evaluation of the site to determine the existing conditions and specific wants and needs from the client. It features California native drought-friendly plants needing minimal water while providing year-long color and texture. Caliifornia poppies, peppered succulents, ornamental grasses, all painstakingly arranged so that even the foliage could be a tapestry. We then developed a new state-of-the-art drip irrigation system for more efficient water consumption. They also used permeable pavers in the walkways to allow for natural drainage, as well as reduction of runoff and increasing groundwater recharge. Another major hurdle was the site's morphology (it was not flat), and so we had to grade and amend the soil to create ideal planting beds. Our talented teams worked through this challenge to ensure every plant was given the best opportunity to succeed in its new surroundings. The end product was a beautiful, lush garden that not only met the clients needs to be aesthetically pleasing but also ensure they could carry on with their efforts towards sustainability. Its transformation into the Water Wise Garden has created a peaceful sanctuary both celebrating the desert beauty of native plants and minimizing how much water is needed. The client was so pleased with the transformation saying that the new garden had become a real centrepiece for family get-togethers and attracting a variety of wildlife. By using sustainable landscaping practices, Garden Nest Residential Landscape combines quality craftsmanship with the water-saving Water Wise Garden both as a signature of dedication and skill and for the beauty of outdoor spaces we owe to our natural resources.
