About This Project

Yugen Garden Photo by Garden Nest Residential Landscape Located in the East Bay, Yugen Garden is a stunning collaboration of the artistry and craftsmanship of Garden Nest Residential Landscape. Over 5,000 square feet, this embraces traditional Japanese design using contemporary landscaping methods to create a serene sanctuary for the senses. The design consists of a handmade koi pond with natural stone paths and plant life. We used locally sourced granite and river rocks to navigate from one flat space to another, and to make the transition between different areas of the landscape more seamless, even with hard-to-navigate uneven terrain. Using a diversity of native plants increases biodiversity and requires minimal maintenance, making it sustainable. A highlight is the beautiful Zen garden, equipped with raked sand and carefully selected boulders, encouraging contemplation and reflection. We also installed custom bamboo fencing and added ambient lighting, so we could enjoy the garden as much at night as we do during the day. There were constraints to the as well, ly a short timeline, and strict plant selection to match the vision of the client. But with the right combination of team effort by us and the homeowners, everything lined up for a complete and comfortable landscape that could be both expansive yet cozy. Yugen Garden is ultimately, a tranquil retreat and a source of joy for the client and visitors all the way from Alameda to Walnut Creek and beyond. The attention to detail and quality of workmanship that Garden Nest Residential Landscape have used to carve out this area ethos it into a place of heartwarming art, peace, and motivating source of inspiration.
