The 'Oakland Bungalow' landscape , located in the heart of Oakland, highlights this mission; we touched every part of the bungalow's front and back yards functionally with design and beautifully with aesthetics. The clients wanted to invite the indoors out, and our team was able to accomplish this by creating a cohesive landscape plan that involved not only beautiful but drought-sensitive plants, exceptional hardscaping, and sustainable materials. We used locally sourced, natural stone in the hardscaping for the pathways and patio. These materials are both durable and compatible with the local terrain. A custom flagstone patio was installed for a functional area for outdoor living - the ideal for entertaining and relaxing outside. One of the things we had to contend with was the uneven condition of the existing landscape. We took careful measures to grade and prep the existing surface to provide a level and balanced design. Our experienced team completed this task and work to set up the landscaping for proper drainage and soil health to ensure longevity of the final pieces. Another measure we took was to install a variety of native plants, selected for their hardiness in conditions and low maintenance requirements. One of the many advantages of installing drought-sensitive, native plants was to support local wildlife and sustain our ecosystem. After all the beautiful and functional pieces were put into place, the stunningly effective design was comprised of vibrant flower beds, a water feature, and distinctly defined garden spaces inviting the user to explore.
