About This Project

Brief: Towsley - An Innovative Landscape by Ventures Design Located in the heart of Bloomfield Hills, this property is a raw landscape that demonstrates our skills at Ventures Design when designing an incredible outdoor space that blends use and beauty. The Towsley was redesigned as a tranquil retreat for our customers, who wanted elegance and nature to coexist. We created a land-use vision for this expansive residential landscape in order to evoke beauty, and enhance usability. The stone patio is a centerpiece of the , with natural flagstone from local quarries that is unified with the immediate surroundings. The outdoor area for entertaining is surrounded by durable basking, low-maintenance perennial gardens that bloom and hold their seasons of colour. However, as with many properties, we had to also address the issue of the slope of the property. Therefore we fabricated a retaining wall out of durable, environmentally wholesome materials, to stabilize the design while creating tiered planting beds. Vibrant plants that hold their seasons are now planted in those beds, which were created to hold plants that have specific light requirements. Imported native plants not only minimize watering needs, but we and our owner are happy to see local ecological planting established that are good for our ecology. There were other design issues as well. Parts of the property required irrigation, and clear drainage had to be established for the entire property. As any committed group of landscape design specialists, we overcame these challenges by meeting logistically and all of our trays aligned very well. The end is a healthy and beautiful environment that allows our clients and their family / guests to access the elegance of the home while enjoying their extra living area beyond their indoor living space. The Towsley represents the style and function quality we pursue at Ventures Design, and these live experiences will last for many years. They were very pleased to see their ideas come to life that transformed a small backyard into a beautiful retreat.
